This post will be both an introduction as well as the first official Sunday Sentiment. The Sunday Sentiment, is a blog that will be written every Sunday, hopefully, journaling the feelings that I have felt the past week, and what my goals for the upcoming week.
One of the main goals of the Sunday Sentiment blog post is the find and focus on the positives in life, otherwise known as, silver linings. Focusing on the positives is one way to combat the negative emotions you may feel.
Your life will hopefully be filled with more good days than bad. My goal is to showcase that even on the bad days that you can’t afford to focus on the bad days. Focusing on the bad only makes them have more meaning, and gives them more power in how you’re feeling than they should have. Focus on the good, learn from the bad.
The first Sunday Sentiment, I am feeling that I need to thank the person who inspired me to realize what the Sunday Sentiment should be about, focusing on the positives rather than the negatives.
This person is near and dear to my heart, and he shown by example how not just being but focusing on the positives in life can help your overall health and well being. I know that I had been focusing on the positives in my life rather than the negatives, but not in the same way that he does.
We have experienced together, when I start focusing more on the bad than the good, the conversation usually doesn’t begin well or end well. That is not to say that venting to each other is off limits because that’s certainly not the case, the key is not to dwell on the venting of those negative feelings and/or experiences.
He does a brilliant job of this, not saying that he’s perfect, but really who is, all I know is that I still have a long way to go, and that’s the goal of this blog.
